Cashmere wool is one of the most luxurious and expensive natural fabrics used to make all kinds of clothing. Thanks to its practical and aesthetic qualities, cashmere is one of the most demanded and appreciated fabrics in the world. Products made of cashmere wool are very delicate, soft and pleasant to touch and wear. A thin, lightweight cashmere pullover is at least as warm as a thick sheep's wool pullover. Cashmere keeps its shape, does not give way when washed or worn and does not fade in colour, with good care it lasts for years.

Where does cashmere come from and how is it obtained?

Cashmere wool is obtained by combing the undercoat of Kashmiri goats. This extremely hardy breed lives in the Himalayan plateaus between the countries of China and Mongolia. You can see why Kashmir is so warm, as it is this coat that protects the goats from the bitter cold of this mountainous region. The undercoat of cashmere goats is soft and dense as it provides exceptional protection against frosts that can reach temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius.

The freshly sheared cashmere from the goats, which is obtained by combing the undercoat in the spring and summer months, has to undergo a long process of handmade treatment, at the end of which the cashmere yarn is obtained and different products such as jumpers, pullovers, overalls or jackets can be knitted, which are preferred by people on cold days, when they want to look unique and special, as cashmere is a fabric that can be easily recognised by those who know about it. By the way, did you know that it takes about 3 to 5 goats to make a normal size jumper?

How to choose the best cashmere garments?

When selecting a cashmere pullover or other cashmere jumper, in addition to the colour and size, it is important to pay attention to the number of layers of cashmere wool in which the pullover is made (also called ply). It is precisely this factor that determines the conditions under which you will feel best wearing cashmere clothing. In general, the more layers, the warmer the garment is. It is normal for cashmere jumpers to be made with two layers of yarn, which in turn represents our offer at Krono Polo.

The advantage of these jumpers and waistcoats for both men and women is that they can be worn all year round and you will always feel comfortable, as they work very well for cold days or medium temperatures. For the winter we recommend the warmer jumpers which are ten- and twelve-layer cashmere jumpers, designed to be worn in the colder seasons of the year. At Krono Polo we have a wide offer for men and women, not only in jumpers but also in other garments such as overalls and long trousers, soft and comfortable for those days when your body needs to feel comfortable, but with style.
