Combining the action of a Weymouth and a bradoon, the Pelham allows the use of two reins for enhanced control and precision. The top rein provides a milder, snaffle-like action with light pressure on the mouth and poll, while the lower rein introduces leverage and engages the curb chain when additional control is required.

The curb chain should be adjusted to engage only when the second rein is applied, ensuring clarity without constant pressure.
