With the new mandatory decision taken by the different governments in Europe of having to stay at home, the question of when everything is going to go back to normality rises. As we all know playing polo is much more than just riding a horse and having good technique, we need resistance and excellent physical conditions, for this a complete body training is required.

Here we will show you a number of exercises that you can do at home with out the need of being on your horse, the best thing is that you do not need any machine just your own weight and consistency.

One of the most common mistakes that polo players have are focusing only on the movement of the horse, leaving on the side their own movements, let’s not forget that how your body is positioned over the seat will contribute on the saddle and this will effect strength on the horse in a positive or negative way. On the other side, the lack of balance creates excessive movement and this gives you bad communication with your animal and if your body does not have constant balance this will create secondary effects on your back with time.

Knowing this, makes it key for you to make it a habit to work constantly on exercises that will provide you with a better position and symmetry, working on the control you have on your body will allow you a better communication with your horse, providing you with a better technique and this showing better results on the polo field

These exercises will give you a better control and will help you with your physical condition, you must practice them on a daily basis to obtain the wanted results, your abdomen will feel much stronger and safer when it is time to ride.

Bicycle type abdominal:  this exercise allows you to maintain strong when turning on the saddle

Sit-ups: you work on balance and strength

Plank:  even though it is one of the simplest exercises that exist it is one of the effective to strengthen your abdomen

Calves: the ankle becomes on the of the most important extremities in the polo game, working on your calves will allow you to develop strength, stability and flexibility in that zone. Your ankle is key to develop a good position for your legs for when you are riding the horse while you are playing.

You don’t need a fully equipped gym to have a good training habit, all of these exercises allow you to do them in the comfort of your house in whatever moment you wish to do them, all you need is discipline and effort. The polo courts will be waiting for you, for now you continue training.
