As of January 2021, the use of helmets certified by the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (Nocsae) is mandatory for every participation of sporting events, whether it’s a national tournament, league, circuit or sanctioned event of the United States Polo Association (USPA); in addition to any Intercollegiate, Interscholastic or National Youth Tournament Series event, as well as any game, league or tournament at the club level of the same organisation.

The specific standard under which the polo helmet must be certified is the NOCSAE ND050 Polo Helmet Standard which is recommended primarily for the prevention and reduction of the possibile brain trauma, this standard has been under study by the USPA since autumn 2017 with different professionals in bioengineering and sports safety, being finally approved to enter into force in the United States in January 2021.

Currently there are not many brands that offer polo helmets with this certification, so it is a challenge to meet the demand generated by the change of regulations for participation in the different polo sporting events for the current year. Krono Polo has therefore taken on the challenge of testing the technology under which its polo helmets are produced according to the NOCSAE ND050 standard in order to not only continue to reach the United States as it has been doing so far with excellent results, but also in order to demonstrate the technological effectiveness of its polo helmets, which are additionally certified by the PAS 015 regulation: 2011 by the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), which is in force and mandatory in the United Kingdom and in other countries that have used this standard as a reference for the safety of polo players.

Krono Polo is a relatively new brand in the market, however, one of its star products has been the polo helmets, being used by polo superstars who have trusted the brand to protect nothing more and nothing less than their head, which is no small trust. To continue to support players who wish to continue using Krono is to continue to open up markets in different countries and to continue to comply with the different regulations of each association, which we know can change at any time, making this a challenge for the brand, but at the same time an incentive to continue to improve and be at the forefront of market demands.

With this news, which is a preview of the work being done by Krono Polo in search of the NOCSAE ND050 certification, Krono Polo is able to add to the list of brands that can be used or put into consideration by polo players for the use of the different polo seasons in the United States, expanding the possibilities and allowing a fair competition between the polo industry where the biggest beneficiary will surely be the player of this sport.
